CBT Therapist

Hi. I am Nia. I am a BABCP-accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, Clinical Supervisor, and ADOS-trained neurodevelopmental assessor with a background in secondary teaching and wealth of experience working across mental health, social care, education, and forensic settings. My clinical approach integrates Cognitive Behavioural Therapy with third-wave interventions, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), and Mindfulness, all delivered through a trauma-informed and systemically aware lens.

I specialise in working with neurodiverse individuals, including those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, and Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD), often alongside co-occurring mental health difficulties. I am trained in all modules of the ADOS-2 and regularly conduct autism diagnostic assessments as part of my current role . My work is strongly influenced by neurodiversity-affirming and culturally responsive principles, which guide my adaptations for therapy, assessment, and supervision.

I am currently completing a Professional Doctorate in Health and Wellbeing at the University of Wolverhampton, where my research explores the application of third-wave interventions for individuals with autism. I am passionate about contributing to the evidence base around effective, compassionate care for neurodiverse populations.

Alongside my clinical role, I supervise both qualified and trainee CBT therapists in private practice and across multiple university training programmes. I take pride in supporting therapists to grow in confidence and competence, particularly in delivering adapted therapy for complex needs.

My earlier roles in multisystemic therapy, substance use treatment, and teaching have all contributed to a broad and flexible clinical skill set. I’m committed to creating safe, inclusive spaces for healing and growth—whether in the therapy room, in supervision, or through research.
