Dr Protty

Consultant Cardiologist

Dr Majd Protty is a WCAT Clinical Lecturer in Cardiology at Cardiff University. He qualified as a doctor from the University of Birmingham in 2013 with honours, distinctions and multiple prizes. He pursued his postgraduate clinical training in cardiology in the Wales deanery.


During this time, he was elected a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP), a Member of the Academy of Medical Educators (MAcadMEd) and passed the European Exam in Core Cardiology. Additionally, he has completed a Masters Degree in Therapeutics (Cardiff University, awarded with Distinction) and a PhD in Medicine (Cardiff University, funded by the Wellcome Trust GW4CAT fellowship) to study cardiovascular medicine, pharmacology and pathology in depth. His subspecialty interest is in interventional cardiology (stenting) and he is certified for this by the European Association for Percutaneous Cardiovascular Interventions (EAPCI). 


With his qualifications and extensive experience in general and interventional cardiology, Dr Protty supports our team with cardiology and ECG advise to enhance the outcomes of patients who are using the service and to safely optimise their management from a cardiovascular point of view by risk stratifying and advising on drug interactions.
